What is #SuperSocialCareStaff day?

#SuperSocialCareStaff is a day in March to celebrate the vital work done by the care sector.

The Covid pandemic highlighted the inequality in public awareness of the contribution made by people working hard in the Care Sector. For years, social care workers had been crying out for recognition for the vital work they do.

#SuperSocialCareStaff begun in 2022, we kickstarted this important day by celebrating with some of the people who make the Social Care Sector so super.

Our team, alongside the Mayor of Derby, visited the staff and residents of The Laurels Residential and Nursing home. We spent time with elderly residents, residents with disabilities and thanked the #SuperSocialCareStaff for their valued service with tokens of gratitude.

We had a bench put in at Markeaton Park and unveiled it with our friends at Community Links Derby, a very special moment for everyone involved. This was followed by wonderful Celebrations Service at Derby Cathedral with readings from members of Disability Syndicate.

This year we will be attending UK Care Week to celebrate #SuperSocialCareStaff day, spreading awareness of the vital work care staff provide.

To show our gratitude, we recently launched “The Blue Sky Social Care Card”. The card acts as an Employee/Carer ID card. As a huge thank you for all care staff’s hard work, they receive national discounts and perks. We wanted this card to make the lives of Social Care Staff just a little easier and to show them the appreciation they deserve. “The Blue Sky Social Care Card” is one step in the right direction of being recognised as equals to the NHS and other valued staff.
