A Day At The Palace For Charity CEO – Amo Raju OBE DL

CEO of Disability Direct, Amo Raju spent the day at Buckingham Palace to receive his OBE as part of an Investiture Ceremony for his exceptional services to disabled people, carers and the awareness of mental health.

As his Majesty King Charles III was recuperating from his recent medical procedure, The Princess Royal stepped in to make the award on his behalf. Amo was joined by other recipients from all across the country including celebrities such as Davina Mcall.

Amo said – ‘What an experience! As I walked up to HRH Princess Anne, I was a little nervous, however she had a very natural way of making me feel at ease. Incredibly HRH immediately began to discuss Disability Direct. I was slightly taken aback as I wasn’t expecting her to know about the charity but nevertheless, I loved every second of our brief discussion. My father passed away a few weeks ago and so it’s a bitter sweet moment as he wanted to come to the palace with me but it wasn’t meant to be. However, I’m sure he’s smiling down on me and very proud too.’

David Moss, Chair of Disability Direct said – ‘We’re all very proud of Amo and his many achievements which only benefit the charity and our service users. Disabled people need to see more role models who can become an inspiration for future generations of what can be achieved through grit and determination.’
