Feeling recognised as a carer is the main reason Beata Pawelska never leaves the house without her Blue Sky Social Care Card.

“I feel appreciated,” said Beata, who lives in London and works as a private carer. “And honestly, I really do wear the card with pride.”

Beata travels across the UK providing private care to her clients and often lives in their homes for a number of weeks at a time. Her next job, after her family holiday in France, is a short caring role in Truro in Cornwall.

“My job takes me all over the place and I love the variety of where this job takes me,” said Beata. “But I never go away without my card as you just never know when you might need it for something – especially when there are so many discounts available.”

Beata, 66, says carers are regularly forgotten about even though they are much-needed key workers and for some carers, our Blue Sky Social Care Card, acts as a verified ID card. Whether you’re an unpaid carer, volunteer or work into other areas of the social care sector, you could be eligible.

Beata said: “I work full time as a live in carer and the card recognises me for what I do – and I really like that.

“I actually think it is great and I can’t see a time when I wouldn’t want to renew the card. For just £5, it is very affordable and that is so helpful when people are struggling to afford to live. But more importantly, it lets people see who you are and what you are doing. Being a carer is a very rewarding job – so why not sign up, like me, and be properly identified as one.”
