On November 18th, Blue Sky Brokers officially launched The Blue Sky Social Care Card at the House of Commons, marking a significant milestone for the social care sector for Carers Rights Day. This initiative, designed to recognise, reward, and support both paid and unpaid carers, seeks to unify the sector and provide practical benefits to those who dedicate their lives to caring for others.
The event was generously hosted by Catherine Atkinson, MP for Derby North, highlighting the local roots of the project, which was developed in Derby by Blue Sky Brokers, a part of local charity Disability Direct. Catherine’s involvement highlighted the vital need to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of carers across the UK.
The launch brought together inspiring speakers with firsthand experience and a shared passion for social care, including Paul Featherstone, founder of the National Association of Care and Support Workers. Commercial supporters, such as the popular food chain Oodles, also attended, showcasing the broad backing for this innovative initiative.
